What's the best way to get to you? Do I need to arrange my own insurance? Are the vehicles difficult to drive? Will I be filling up with fuel every 5 minutes? What happens if I have an accident? Do I need to use campsites, or can I roam free? Where is Rent A Dub located? Unless arranged otherwise, your Dub can be collected from the Volkswagen Haven that is 50-67, just outside Truro, in the Heart of Cornwall. Our postal/correspondance address is: 24 Chellew Road Truro Cornwall TR1 1LH
What's the best way to get to you?
We're happy to meet you at Truro bus or train stations, or Newquay Airport. If you're bringing your own car, then read on for directions.
We're lucky enough to have been offered the use of a massive Vee-Dub haven for customers coming in their own cars.
From the A30: Follow A390 for Truro. After approx 1 mile, turn right for Chacewater (opposite Airfield turning). Over hump-back bridge (take it easy) and turn right at end of the road. Take the next right, into the Killiwherries Industrial Estate. Follow the road round to the end and look out for the Dubs!
Can I leave my car with you? Customers are welcome to leave their car, parked out of the way in the yard, and away from the main road. However, this is entirely at your own risk, as Rent A Dub, or any third party, will not accept liability for any damages caused to, or losses from, private vehicles left unattended. Do I need to arrange my own road insurance? No. As standard, Rent A Dub provides you with fully comprehensive road insurance for one qualifying driver. Extra drivers can be added upon request, at a small extra cost. It is worth noting that Rent A Dub is unable to provide any personal possessions insurance cover. We strongly recommend that all our customers ensure that their own personal belongings are covered under separate insurance plans. Do I need a special licence? No! All you need is a full UK driving licence, which you must have held for at least 2 years, and a sense of humour! Are the vehicles difficult to drive? Not difficult, just different! In fact, it should be easier than a new, fangled car, as there's only 4 forward gears (+ reverse)!
All Dubs take a bit of getting used to, so, to give you a fighting chance, we've searched high and low, to make sure that all our Dubs are right hand drive.
Surely it's better if you don't open the door every time you go to change gear! Will I be filling up with fuel every 5 minutes? This depends on how you drive! If you've got a heavy right foot, the engine will drink every drop you throw at it. And if you're particularly over-zealous, you might even blow up the engine too! That bit comes out of your £500 deposit, so we recommend that you chill out at the helm. These old Dubs aren't made for speed...and besides, more people see you when you're going slowly! What happens if I breakdown? In the event of a breakdown, your first point of contact should be the Rent A Dub office, 07971 096518. We will try to assess the nature of the breakdown, and will, if necessary, call for RAC recovery. If we believe that the problem can be easily rectified, and we can attend the vehicle within 1 hour, we will undertake it ourselves. If your vehicle cannot be repaired within a reasonable time period, a replacement vehicle will be offered. If no suitable replacement is available, you will be refunded for the proportion of the hire period remaining. What happens if I have an accident? All Rent A Dub vehicles are hired with fully comprehensive road insurance for one driver. The excess payable on any claim is £750, the first £500 of which will come from your security deposit, if the accident was your fault. What do I need to bring? Each driver needs to bring their driving licence (both parts if you have a photocard), and one other form of photo ID, ideally a Passport. If you're hiring a camper and unless you've requested linen hire, you're going to want to remember that! And a change of socks too! We've provided as much as we can think of, so don't bring too much extra because it'll only take up valuable living space! How far can I go? There is no restriction on mileage. We even have insurance cover for use anywhere in Europe, but please check with us before you flee the country! Do I need to use campsites, or can I roam free? We strongly urge all customers to use approved campsites for all overnight stays. Guerilla camping is increasingly difficult to practise these days, and the last thing you want is the Boys in Blue peering through your curtains at 3am, moving you on! Cornwall is particularly well-equipped with campsites, with pitches to cater for all tastes. Make the most of their facilities (toilets, showers etc.)!
